So you've started your own business, read all the books, attended all the seminars and done everything that you've been told to do, but you are still not enjoying the success you envisioned. So what are you missing?
Put into practice these three great tips, and you will thrive, without them you will fail, no matter what else you do.
- It's Not About Money. Let that sink in for a second. Business is about people and relationships no matter what your market is. If your clients know you see them as people and not dollar signs, they will be more loyal to you. This benefits your reputation and word of mouth brings business to your door.
- Treat Your Staff Well. This, once again, is not about money, although a fair wage is important. Let them know you appreciate them and value them as people. Make sure to take time to listen to their ideas and give them opportunities to lead. If you invest in their growth, they are much more likely to invest in yours. This should keep your staff with you through the thick, and more importantly, the thin.
- Do The Right Thing. Remember to never cut corners or slack off. If you give in to the convention of situational ethics your reputation will suffer. Be honest and trustworthy. Instead of getting by with the minimum, strive to exceed your customers expectations.
It might sound simple, but these steps take integrity and constant thought. Treat people well, be honest and trustworthy, do great work, and your business will benefit.
